Marching Band
             


               

The Pride of Acadiana performs at all home games, adding music and pageantry to the excitement of Ragin' Cajun football. It also performs during select away games, high school contest exhibitions, and special events, such as the 2004 Louisiana governor's inauguration and New Orleans Saints Football Games in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. The Pride of Acadiana gained an international reputation by performing in the 2005 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and on NBC's Today Show prior to the parade. An estimated 60 million people watch the Macy's parade worldwide each year and the band was one of only two college marching bands chosen. In April 2009, the Pride of Acadiana traveled to Great Britain for performance in Edinburgh, Scotland and London, England. In April 2011, The Pride received an additional invitation to return to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in November 2012!

Over the New Year's Holiday 2010, the Pride traveled to Madrid, Spain to perform in the Madrid King's Parade. Related with the arrival of the Three Kings to the manger, the The Three Wise Kings march into each city before leaving presents for the good children. This parade is viewed by more than two million people live and is broadcast to more than 100 million people throughout the hispanic world. 

Membership is open to all majors by audition. Rehearsals take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:15-2:15 pm in the fall semester only. Percussion and Color Guard attend one evening sectional per week. Wind sections attend one night sectional every other week. Course credit is offered under AMUS 152. Wind and Percussion sectional is Monday from 7:00-9:00 PM and Guard sectional is Tuesday from 6:00-9:00 PM.
